Happy Friday

Happy Friday

I sometimes listen to classical music when I’m driving, it’s super relaxing and I feel a bit classy, even driving my 23 year old, much loved Mazda. Everyone should do it! There’d be hardly any road rage (just try it! Try getting ragey when Bach or Beethoven are playing, it’s impossible). And I always find[read more…]

Instagram love: Giulia Bernardelli

I don’t do Instagram but if I did, I’d definitely be following Giulia, a talented artist from Italy who’s recently been spotted creating wonderfully intricate art from food and coffee.  Check out her creations on this page and go to Giulia’s Instagram for more loveliness. About Giulia: My name is Giulia Bernardelli and I am 28 years old.  I live[read more…]

I spotted these sweet animal photos (the soft tones and colours!) on Jaimie’s photostream recently, which manage to show so much personality and gentleness; the kind eyes on the giraffe and the babies and mamas cuddling just made my day! Check out the rest of Jaimie’s beautiful photostream here and click on the photos below to get to the[read more…]

For the love of books (and places in Brisbane you can read them)

For the love of books (and places in Brisbane you can read them)

I’m always heartened to see so many folks loving books as I do.   Two lovely places to go in Brisbane are pictured below: The Clarence Corner Book Shop and Café in Woolloongabba; and The Annerley Community Book Shop and Neighbourhood Centre So turn off your devices and visit them for a bit if you enjoy[read more…]

Hannah and Landon

I love the dreamy, vintage and charming style of Hannah @ Hannah and Landon, a clothing designer and photographer who resides in New York and LA.  And there’s a shop!  A very very nice one called The Loved One so check it out via the links or images below. Oh and that kitty mask! Store items I covet: All[read more…]

A sweet escape

A sweet escape

These photos, which look like more like illustrations to me, are by Nick Knight and caught my eye the other day.  Candy sweet, fanciful and pretty, I’d love to have one as a print or something.       Images of Karlie Kloss, by Nick Knight, styled by Edward Enninful via: the English Group

Cinemagraphs by Jamie Beck & Kevin Burg

Cinemagraphs by Jamie Beck & Kevin Burg

These charmingly beautiful cinemagraphs caught my eye recently; a cinemagraph, from what I can gather, is a sort of refined, more delicate and high quality version of a GIF, which concentrates on movement in one part of the photo while the remainder stays still. These photographs are already lovely but then are brought to life by the exquisite detailing;[read more…]

I love this 1960s, Bond girl inspired campaign by Wildfox featuring gorgeous swimwear (it’s from the Northern Hemisphere’s last summer but we’re just moving into summer here).   All images from Wildfox

I’m fascinated by Anna’s Flickr stream, it’s incredibly atmospheric and enchanting.  Freelance portrait photographer Anna resides in Northern Sweden, an area which fascinates me and has an almost mythical, fairy tale quality.  I was hard pressed choosing photos to profile in this post as, although Anna only has a limited amount of photos in her stream, I love every single[read more…]

I spotted Lucy Ferguson’s Flickr stream recently.  Lucy shoots with film and photographs the everyday in a soft and thoughtful way with such subtle attention to detail … spot the warm and cosy colours of the shop down the end of the rainy street in the 3rd photo, for example.  I can just imagine walking down[read more…]

What Ali wore

What Ali wore

I spotted this sweet Tumblr by Berlin based photographer Zoe Spawton today, featuring a very dashing gentleman called Ali.  There should be more handsome, well dressed fellows like this in the world, he made my day! This is Ali. He walks past my work every morning wearing great clothes/ Images from: What Ali Wore

Africa

Africa

Is anyone watching David Attenborough’s popular series Africa?  I’ve just seen the first episode, Kalahari, but can hardly wait for the next – completely fascinating!  Breathtakingly filmed with David’s warm yet dry humoured voice adding to the atmosphere and emotion of the show, sometimes making me chuckle. I really recommend it if you haven’t had a chance to catch it yet. Images[read more…]

Abandoned

Abandoned

Being a bit of a history buff, I’m fascinated by images of abandoned or old buildings; crumbling and broken down with their windows empty, disturbingly quiet, sometimes spooky, the previous occupants still visible somehow.  I’d love to see these places in person in that way I have of watching scary movies at 11 o’clock at night, peeking out from[read more…]
